The pride of the Philippines Manny Pacquiao will be fighting the king of Mexico Juan Manuel Marquez in Vegas tonight. The Pacman's Boxing Trainer Freddie Roach has some tricks up his sleeve for Juan Manuel. This is the 4 battle royal between the two boxing greats and both have amazing fight records. With previous controversial decisions, this fight is BIG. Who will win the fourth bout?

Mel Brooks Got A New Gig On HBO

My comic Godfather Mel Brooks, the director, composer, screenwriter, actor, producer, lyricist and one of the funniest people on the planet has a new gig. Mr. Brooks will be working with Dick Cavett on HBO. The show will be called "Mel Brooks and Dick Cavett Together Again". The hour long special will debut Sept. 9th on HBO.

Award Winning Boxing Trainer Freddie Roach Shooting New Reality Show For HBO

Boxing legendary trainer Freddie Roach has a new reality show called "ON FREDDIE ROACH". Freddie was recently in Beverly Hills filming while getting his haircut at Giuseppe Franco's world famous salon. Roach is of course the trainer for Manny Pacquiao and has won the Trainer of the Year Award from the BWAA (Boxers Writer's Association of America) for the 3rd year in a row. Freddie has Parkinson's and having cameras document his challenges, will bring more attention and information about the disease.
"On Freddie Roach" will use Roach's The Wild Card Boxing Gym as the central location but camera crews will follow the trainer doing his regular activities.

Another Shout Out to HBO

Does HBO have the lock on great performances? IN TREATMENT with Gabriel Byrne and directed by Paris Barclay is so realistic and so fantastically executed. FLIGHT OF THE CONCHORDS with Jemaine Clement & Bret McKenzie is uniquely clever and charmingly offbeat. Jill Scott in THE #1 LADIES DETECTIVE AGENCY is in a role that can easily earn her an Emmy and shows BOTSWANA in a way never seen before. So again kudos to HBO.

Comedian Chris Rock Pouts at the IVY

Coincedently, I just watched HBO's Chris Rock: Kill the Messenger. He was very funny. Rock is a talented comic and actor. Not that I had any expectations of him but he was pouty at the Ivy while he was being photographed. Everyone knows in the industry "you don't go to the IVY unless you want attention especially during lunch." I guess Chris Rock didn't get the memo because he seemed shocked. He must have a new project coming out.

I Got to Give HBO Props.....

I haven't watch TV for a long time. But since my move, I have had the luxury of watching HBO. Believe me when I say, I'm blown away by the quality of shows. BIG LOVE which is about a subject matter that I find extremely uncomfortable (polygamy) is so well acted and written that I've been amazed. So many great movies so many interesting documentaries like THE BLACK LIST. I have to give credit when credit is due.
