Dancing With The Stars Season 13 - How The Game is Played

Even though the first dancing episode of the new season has yet to happen, the game was already started a long time ago. Proving that the popular bread winning show for ABC (owned by Disney) as well as the multiple tiers of corporations, including entertainment and news outlets, magazines/newspapers, electronic media (blogs, internet sites and mobile devices), PR firms, talent agents, photographers, interviewers, hair/makeup, clothing designers and so many others who benefit from sticking their fingers in the “reality celebrity competition” ratings pie known as Dancing With The Stars, share a concerted effort in the success of the show.
Some events on the surface seem random but when looked at in a relative chronological order, a very interesting game reveals itself.
DWTS is BIG Business. Therefore, there are moves being played, for fun lets call them chess moves, that should be noted.
In July 2011, a story on TMZ said that DWTS’s producers were going after A-listers after season 12. As an incentive the stars could have more freedom and pick their own rehearsal schedules, costume choices and music selections.
Also in July via PopCrush, Lady Gaga announces collaboration with musical icon CHER with a song called ‘The Greatest Thing’. And according to TV Guide, the single and music video is due in September 2011. The song is targeted for the LGBT community.
After the media blitz that still is going from her daughter Kim Humphries’ wedding, Kris Jenner, matriarch of the money making megalithic Kardashians, announces that she will guest on two different morning talk shows. In a media coup, Jenner will co-host ‘The Talk’(on CBS) and on ‘The Today Show’ (NBC) in September. The news of Kris Jenner being on both shows broke about 7 days ago. CBS is owned by CBS Corp (Westinghouse Electric, Viacom). NBC is owned by Comcast Corp. ‘Keeping Up With The Kardashians’ is on E! which is owned by NBC Universal.
A few days ago, Lady Gaga did a cross gender character on the Viacom owned 'VMAs'. According to most, it was a big fail since it was revealed she copied almost identically a character that Annie Lennox (formerly of Eurythmics) did during the 1984 Grammy Awards. Meanwhile Annie Lennox's manager is Simon Fuller of XIX Entertainment. Fuller also produces and is the creator of 'American Idol' as well as 'So You Think You Can Dance'. Lady Gaga's copycat antics although a failure to most, brings negative attention to her which she seems to derive pleasure and power from. Almost as some sick inside joke, the more people hate on Lady Gaga, the more successful she becomes like some kind of demon. I digress anyway, Gaga’s dragging up Annie Lennox’s “Sweet Dreams Are Made of These” performance in turns draws attention back to Annie Lennox and interest in her musical archives as well as what Lennox is doing presently. Very Clever chess move.
So let me sum up what all the above seemingly random acts become when one puts them down on the board.

Chaz Bono (originally daughter of Cher, now a man) activist for the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender community (LBGT) is partnered up with Lacey Schwimmer who has gotten implants, bleached her hair blonde, has had facial surgery and is also working on her career as a singer. What better way to get attention than to be paired with one of DWTS most controversial contestants. The longer Chaz Bono stays on the show the better. Cher who has a huge Gay following has a legion of fans. Combined with Lady Gaga’s twitter monsters, imagine the ratings checkmate when Cher appears on DWTS and if or shall I say when she performs with Gaga.
The conservatives will hate on Chaz, which in turn will only bring more attention to the show. It is a win/win for DWTS executives.
As for Rob Kardashian if the kid can dance, it will be a gold mine.

Knowing the mastermind of manager mother Kris Jenner, if I were her, I would have been making Rob take dance lessons by the age of four. With Kris being a host on two major network talk shows, she has a forum to promote her son and all her family's endeavors. Kris Jenner is a very savvy business person. Her family is a Corporation.
The above game reminds me of CAA (Creative Artists Agency) when it was run by Mike Ovitz. He figured out quite brilliantly that if you have the top directors, the top writers, top actresses/actors, the top musical acts and the top composers, when a film or TV show gets made, you have Your Team in the highest positions. Therefore you are getting a cut from the back end as well as the front while you are also getting numerous percentages on a production. That is how the ultimate chess game is played and won. As well as orchestrating the machine that runs the money. You are the wizard behind the curtain pulling the strings on the short term goals and profits as well as long term future residuals off the present day pursuits.
The last couple of years DWTS has had several conservative celebs like
Bristol Palin and Tom Delay that drew huge controversy. It seems only fitting that now they go to the other swing of the pendulum with Chaz. Chaz Bono is the "King" of the Show. Let’s hope he can dance.

Overt and contrived public displays of affection are normally a tell tale sign that a relationship is on the rocks or non existent and an imaginary fairy tale for public consumption. Recently during Simon Fuller the American Idol's Producer and Creator's star ceremony, Marc Anthony and Jennifer Lopez gave each other a kiss smack dab in front of all the press. A month later the marriage is headed for divorce. Who knows exactly what happened between the musical pair?
There was a blind item that ran on several blogs about a couple heading for divorce one star was brighter than the other while the other was working a new job to pay for their debt ridden relationship. Accusations of affairs also ran amuck inside the blind item. Could they have been whispering about JLO & Marc Anthony?
There was also another rumor or just a false story planted by Lopez's PR agency that Jennifer was not going to be on American Idol for Season 2. This story ran a few weeks ago after JLo was front and center at Simon Fuller's ceremony. What many people may not know is that Jennifer Lopez (and Marc Anthony (although his signing may change after the divorce) are represented by SIMON FULLER's XIX Entertainment. Again Simon Fuller is not only JLO's boss on American Idol, he has masterminded and resurrected her popularity so it was not logical that Ms. Lopez was going to bite the hand that feeds her by not returning to Idol. Furthermore, with the impending divorce, JLo will have more time to devote to her career in music and TV.

Simon Fuller is the man that can make magic happen. And there is nothing like a Hollywood Divorce to generate media headlines causing star meters to rise around the world.

THE VOICE Victorious on Virgin Viewing Slays DWTS and Glee

The new NBC TV show THE VOICE (with judges Adam Levine (shown above), Cee Lo Green, Christina Aguilera and Blake Shelton debuted with nearly 12 million viewers according to the Hollywood Reporter. "Dancing With The Stars" aka DWTS (ABC) followed in second and "GLEE" (FOX) was in third.
Makes one wonder about the recent antics of two of THE VOICE's star judges who got into trouble and then got some press for it. Cee Lo who recently stormed off Coachella stages according to reports and Christina Aguilera’s trouble with the law regarding public intoxication and her boyfriend, Matthew Rutler arrested for DUI. After much sensation, later it was determined that he was under the the legal limit for a crime and the charges were dropped.
Recently, the talented Christina Aguilera was out at the Abbey to be inducted to the Gay Hall of Fame with much media fanfare. Perfect timing a week before the premiere episode of "THE VOICE."
With the recent machinations of "DWTS" (having) and "American Idol" (allowing) castaway Pia Toscano on the show to sing, it is easy to surmise that it was a ploy to draw viewers away from the new competition. Well according to the ratings, the tactic backfired and NBC looks like it has a hit in THE VOICE.
American Idol was created by Simon Fuller and starred Simon Cowell until he moved on to "The X Factor" (which Cee Lo has said he turned down Cowell's requests for him to judge) and Simon Cowell's other franchises "America's Got Talent" which follows the success of "Britain's Got Talent". and American Idol is produced and sometimes directed by Nigel Lythgoe. Both Simon Cowell, Simon Fuller and Nigel Lythgoe are British. Dancing With The Stars is distributed by BBC World Wide and is produced by Conrad Green also British.
All four men are listed in the Top 20 British talent making it state side (list) by The Independent Media dated Monday, 30 June 2008. Both men have collaborated together on a reality show in the past called ALL AMERICAN GIRL produced by 19 Entertainment which was founded by Simon Fuller in 1985. Since then 19 Entertainment has grown to astounding heights with the purchase of
Storm Model Management one of the top modeling agencies in the world as well as their focus on entertainment properties in film/TV/music. They also have a hand in the careers of David and Victoria Beckham, as well as numerous Alist Brands and Personalities.
Also Simon Fuller is connected with CKx which manages among other assests three major cash cows: 1) 19 Entertainment Limited which owns RIGHTS to the IDOLS and So You Think You Can Dance brands/franchises through out the world.
2) 85% Ownership of the Elvis Franchise and 3) 80% of Muhammad Ali Enterprises that means ALI's image (name, image, likeness, certain trademarks and intellectual properties.
I forgot to mention that Prescilla Presley (former DWTS contestant) serves on the board of CKx.
Another interesting gem is that the British are considered the pioneers and the creators of
"Tabloid Journalism" which literally means "compressed news/journalism" also in today's game sensational stories (sex, violence, emotional pulling, causes a reaction). The word "tabloid" is said to have come from "London based pharmaceutical company Burroughs Wellcome & Co. to the compressed tablets {instead of the original loose powder form} they marketed as "Tabloid" pills in the late 1880s" - according to Wikipedia.
So now that it is understood that IDOL and DWTS are owned by British colleagues it would make sense for them to join forces to try to kill a new King - "THE VOICE".
"The Voice" was developed by a Dutch Media Mogul and premiered in Holland. According to a press release "As Previously Announced, NBC Teams Up with Leading Reality Show Pioneers John De Mol, Mark Burnett and Warner Horizon Television to Bring Holland's Blockbuster Vocal Talent Discovery Series to America in Spring 2011" - NBC Press Release.
John De Mol is one of the richest media moguls in the world. He also developed the highly successful and influential reality series BIG BROTHER. His partner, Mark Burnett is famous for producing SURVIVOR, The Apprentice, MTV Awards & The People's Choice Awards to name a few. Burnett was born in Britain but moved to the U.S. in the early 80's.
To summarize we have some serious media moguls controlling the TV game board and right now after the virgin viewing, De Mol and Burnett have a hit. It will be fascinating to see what tactics will be used next, in this multi-billion dollar chess game. Simon Cowell's American installment of the "X Factor" will unveil in the fall of 2011. According to rating reports in Holland, The Voice of Holland has beaten the Dutch versions of "American Idol" and "The X Factor". Will "The Voice" be able to hang on to their high notes after an impressive opening?
