KAT Update

Michael K over at Dlisted.com gave me and the Quween a shout out which is much appreciated. Dlisted.com is a very popular blog and when MK Ultra (that is what I like to call him) mentions a video, one sees the traffic instantaneously. The views to the video "Quween Hot Slut of the Day" already jumped substantially in number which is important in so many ways especially when it comes to having a TV Show. Quween was named HOT SLUT of the Week which is big on Dlisted. And KROQ has replayed her interview that she did on Friday already.
I also found out over the weekend that another German Magazine, Gala 24/2009 bought my pictures of "German actor Til Schweiger filming his reality TV show on Hollywood & Highland" - Los Angeles, California - 13.03.09. Til Schweiger is in Inglorious Bastards with Brad Pitt coming out very soon.
Next:
While waiting for Michael Jackson I shot some footage of us waiting...Charles from the Genius Machine has a starring role in the silliness. We talk about MJ, the Church, Porn and Prison.

Lastly, I photographed and video'd super sexy and talented Teyana Taylor over 2 weeks ago, TMZ and some other media took a spin without doing their research.
Teyana is a multitalented performer and choreographer who is popular in the hip hop community.
They just didn't want to do the right thing but by them making up untruths about Taylor (referring to her as a Rihanna look alike and the new GF of Chris Brown) they just gave her more heat, more publicity. Hopefully Taylor will drop her album out in the summer so she can benefit from the attention.

KAT Animated Gif (Goes with the Church Deadman's Hand)

After editing for about 24 hours, I finally decided to work on an animated gif for myself. While I was doing it I was listening to Untitled #23 from the CHURCH. I found out that "Deadman's Hand" (track 2) goes perfect with it. I was just playing the album, literally ripped the paper off of it and the words fit to me. The beat works perfectly with the pix.Photobucket

Here is KAT TALES TV video of the Church @ the Roxy

I would love to tell a story about a person who told me I couldn't do all the things that I love to do. He put my love of learning down and told me I couldn't edit, take photos, write poetry etc, etc. I would like to take this time to say FU.
Anyway, here is my video of the Church at the Roxy. The Church will never know how much our friendship has meant to me through me growing up and becoming who I am today. Although our time together is brief, I try to savor it. I love you even when you are weird MARTY!!!!! Doing what I do has taught me to film very fast and trust my instincts to know I may never have the opportunity to catch something special.
I love you Steve, Peter, Tim and Rasputin...I'm working on Craig.
-KAT
PS Peter you saying that you were proud of me even before you saw my work, meant the world to an exhausted soul. I wish I had more time with you guys I would like to do more...

KAT Learns a Painful Lesson Regarding Youtube

After spending over 5 hours editing a new video format and then emailing over 50 people as well as twittering a bunch of people, all my effort left me with egg on my face. The original video was refused due to length. I was 2 minutes over the ten minute limit on youtube. Learning from watching the far wiser Church (band) deal with annoyances, I just went back to repairing the problem. So here it is. I have decided to do a compilation of select videos. Because I shoot so much, it will give you a wider range of whats happening. I hope you like it. The following video features THE CHURCH, Quween @ KROQ and Top Chefs Hosea Rosenberg & Fabio Viviani and a surprise guest you rarely see on video...

The CHURCH at the Roxy: A Love Letter

I went to the Roxy on Sunset to see some old friends, The Church.
Tonight was the 2nd stop on their North American tour. With a new album Untitled #23 the band that has survived for over 25 years is still rocking strong. One never knows what to expect from the Church and tonight was no exception. The house was full as they took the stage. Since I know the Church as on and off again friends who show up and disappear through the years, I welcomed uncertainty. Steve Kilbey, the lead singer said that he was nervous before the show in his wonderfully warm melodic voice that I tried to imitate. His voice is very soothing and hypnotic. Steve could say he hated me in that voice and I would never know because his voice is smooth as satin. It is a great thing to still be nervous before a gig. To still care to still take it seriously even though one has done it thousands of times. The Church are such perfectionists and that is the salve and the vinegar. Life and music are not always perfect but there are times when it seems so for a fleeting moment. One makes art out of mistakes. The first time I heard of the Church, I was a teenager. "Under The Milky Way" touched me as a poet and as a melancholy love sick girl. Once I heard that song I had to know who played that song and well the rest is history. Through it all I learned the more I saw the band, the more I appreciated their individual as well as group talent. Marty Willson-Piper and Peter Koppes are some of the best if not under rated guitarists in the world. Hearing them as well as watching them feed off each other on stage is a treat for the soulTim Powles the consummate drummer, keeps more than the beat, he pumps blood into their songs. The Church is a band that cares so much about the music and so little about the PR that many may not know of the band. To them that maybe OK, but for me they are like FISHBONE; in that they are a great band that may not have the commercial success that they richly deserve.Instead they have a cult following devoted to them. Lastly what amazes me about the band is that all of the musicians, Steve, Peter, Marty and Tim are talents in their own individual rights. Yet when they play together something magical truly transpires.

It was wonderful to see Steve uncharacteristically dancing on stage tonight. To see them so joyful was the best part of the show. It was good to see my friends. Go see the Church. To learn more go to http://www.thechurchband.com
